How I work

I focus on the system behind the visible problem.

A missed target, a late product, an overloaded team or a failed technology programme rarely has one cause. The visible symptom is usually the result of decisions, incentives, information gaps and operating habits that have built up over time.

My work is to make those mechanics visible, simplify them and turn them into a system that creates repeatable value.

01

Make the trade-off explicit.

Every material commitment uses capacity and displaces something else. Good transformation work does not pretend otherwise. It makes the choice visible: what is being funded, what it costs, what it pushes back and how the business will know whether it paid off.

02

Build for adoption, not release.

A product is not successful because it shipped. It succeeds when customers adopt it and the business captures the intended value. Product may coordinate delivery, but commercial, customer and operational teams must share ownership of the outcome.

03

Treat capacity as a competitive advantage.

Capacity is not only a constraint. It is something a business can shape by reducing duplicate work, protecting time for what compounds, building reusable systems and making deliberate decisions about exceptions.

04

Start with the goal, not the tool.

AI and technology are valuable when they improve the economics or quality of a real workflow or decision. Selecting tools before defining the outcome is like watching your pedals instead of the road.

05

Turn vision into daily decisions.

A vision that never changes what teams do this week is not a strategy. It must show up in investment choices, capacity allocation, product priorities, commercial plans and measures of success.

AI amplifies the organisation you already have.

AI can reduce manual effort, accelerate analysis and make information more usable. It cannot compensate for unclear priorities, duplicated work, weak ownership or a lack of commercial follow-through. The starting question is not “Where can we deploy AI?” It is “What must become simpler, faster and more repeatable for this business to scale?”

These principles inform the work I lead through ProductDataOps, the digital transformation consultancy I founded.
